Two people in love can be the most wonderful thing in the world. It’s Because I Love You by Steven Lytton is the scary story of what can happen when one person’s misconception of their ‘lover’s’ actions becomes the driving force behind a dangerous obsession.

The story tells of Gary, an ordinary guy looking to have honest fun with  a few friends; just friends, he doesn’t have any want of deep commitment. This however; is not quite enough for Sandra, who attaches herself to him, and starts becoming jealous if he spends any time with other people; she gets outrageously insulted even if it’s only the very friends he met her among. When his attempts to leave her results in her lying  to the other people in his life and vandalizing his property, his mistake in accepting her friendship is only made clear too late.

This is a tense story with very realistic characters. it is written in a understandable manner that had my mind reacting to the characters before I read their responses to each other. As much as I’d like to believe Sandra’s actions were simply figments of the author’s imagination, the reality of such happenings is sadly undeniable. Just to know this story arises through true events makes the drama more inescapable.
